Online Application Form Part A: Essay Response
Please respond to all of the following questions and submit them in one Word or PDF file. Title your document (YOUR SURNAME VIEW 2017 Application Essay):
- Why are you interested in exploring a career in public service through the VIEW program? (350 words max)
- What impact do you hope to have in the public service sector in the future? (500 word max)
- How have you already begun to engage with issues of social concern that you would like to address while working in the public service sector? (350 words max)
- What do you see as the greatest learning opportunities through your participation in the VIEW program? What personal and professional goals would you pursue if you were accepted? (500 word max)

2. Documents submitted directly to the Office of Active Citizenship and Service (Rand 305).
- 1) One letter of recommendation
Submit one letter of recommendation that addresses your ability to effectively participate in the VIEW Program (e.g., former supervisor, faculty member, teacher).
Printed Letters of Recommendation- Recommender sends directly to OACS in a sealed envelope

Emailed Letters of Recommendation
- Recommender sends a PDF of a signed letter of recommendation to Meagan.Smith@vanderbilt.edu
- Include “VIEW 2018 – Applicant Name” in the subject line.
- 2) Transcripts
Submit your most recent transcripts from all institutions from which you have earned college credit. You can request transcripts from the Vanderbilt Office of the Registrar. First-year students who have not yet completed a semester of college must submit midterm grades certified by each professor and an official high school transcript.
- 3) Application fee – Delivered to OACS
The application fee for the VIEW program is $50.00. This fee is non-refundable and cannot be applied toward the VIEW program fee. Please make your check or money order payable to Vanderbilt University and include VIEW PROGRAM 2018 in the memorandum line.
Items to be delivered to the Office of Active Citizenship and Service no later than 5:00 PM on Monday, Nov. 6, 2017.
VIEW Financial Assistance
If you believe you will be in need of financial assistance to cover the VIEW program fee, please bring your completed
VIEW Financial Assistance application and a copy of your FAFSA directly to OACS in Rand 305.
For your security, please do not share your FAFSA or any other document containing personally identifiable information via email. Applications for financial assistance will not be considered after the application deadline (5:00 PM on Monday, Nov. 4, 2017)
